The Silent Auction held at Dimbola on Friday May 13th was a huge success, thanks to all the hard work that was put in by Alisson, Shirley, Claire and the team. Peacock Angell Concert

Peacock Angell

Dimbola Lodge

Sunday, May 29th 2011 at 8.00pm

Tickets £10.00 each, available from Dimbola Lodge or phone 01983-730930.

The next concert at Dimbola to be organized in partnership with Vaguely Sunny features the eclectic duo Peacock Angell - namely Ruth Angell and Sid Peacock.

Violin player;/guitarist/singer Ruth Angell is well known to Island audiences. Ruth is a member of Ashley Hutchings Rainbow Chasers who first came to the Island in 2007 to play a sell-out concert at Quay Arts. The band returned to the Quay the following year, and during that visit they also performed an intimate gig in the library at Farringford. Ruth has a very keen interest in setting Tennyson's poetry to music, and as a result of that she and Sid were invited to perform at some songs after dinner at the Tennyson Bi-Centennial celebration at Farringford in 2009. Later that year, Ruth returned to the Island , playing fiddle for the Welsh band Mabon at their Quay Arts gig. That performance is now avilable on DVD.

Sid Peacock is from Bangor in Northern Ireland. He works actively as a composer, producer and educator. Whilst Ruth;s influences mainly come from folk and classical music, Sid's are drawn more from jazz and blues.

As a result, we can expect a very diverse range of songs and tunes at the concert - everything from Irish jigs to more sensitive and reflective pieces, as well as some thoughtful arrangements of Tennyson's poetry.
